On Saturday 13th September, I'm going to be taking part in 'The Lap', a 47 mile ultra-marathon in the Lake District circumnavigating Lake Windermere with over 2,600m of ascent. Whilst I'm a keen runner, this is the furthest I've run in a long time so it's going to be a tough one. It's going to hurt.

I'm also a Scout Leader in my home town of Bromsgrove so would like to use the event to raise money for my Scout Group, 7th Bromsgrove. At the group we have boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 17 for whom we organise activities every week to improve their skills, boost their self-confidence and contribute positively to the local community. The money will help fund the events, activities and trips we organise for the young people.

Next Summer we are taking our Explorer Scouts to Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland, a permanent jamboree site hosting up to 1500 Scouts from around the world. We've challenged the young people to fundraise at least half of the cost of the trip themselves but we'd like to give them a helping hand by providing a grant for them.
