One day, I was in England, UK and I was broke...with my Physiotherapist title and 2 masters degrees. I thought to myself, when we were growing up, did they not tell us to study hard, then we'd get a job, and then everything would be okay? Now that I had all these qualifications, why was I not where I thought I had to be? I thought to myself, maybe the education system missed something out somewhere. Around the same time, I came across news that some young people in Uganda, most of whom were university graduates had been on strike due to joblessness and they had gone around destroying buildings.

I decided in my heart, that one day, when I am able, I would set up an institution or institutions, where learning would be more applicable to real life situations- not just for passing-exams'-sake and obtaining certificates. That institution is in its 1st phase as Siima Nursery and Primary School, now in its second year of existence. Our motto is 'Excelling with boundless creativity'. We'll excel in the classroom and outside the classroom.

We are currently running #KoraKidz - a holiday programme for children aged 3-14... where we aim to stir up their curiosity and creativity, boost their analytical skills, and help them to understand that they can move from just having potential to actually manifesting the greatness within them.

Yesterday the children made these sandals out of cardboard boxes and knitting thread/ wool. The children were so happy and proud wearing these sandals. Obviously they (the sandals) won't last long, but the children have enjoyed making and wearing them. They have also got the concept and their minds will go to work thinking about how best to do it next time.
