Story

This summer, Mark, Michael and fellow trustees of the Rwanda Group Trust will take part in the spirit of Jubilee Year 2025, by making a pilgrimage walk to visit in turn the 6 'Designated Churches' specially appointed by Bishop John within the RC Diocese of Salford.

On their journey of nearly 70 miles, they plan to collect special stamps on their 'pilgrim passports' at each of the 6 churches to be visited, which include: (1) St Mary's, Bamber Bridge; (2) St Peter’s, Stonyhurst; (3) St Alban’s, Blackburn; (4) St Mary’s, Burnley; (5) Schoenstatt Shrine, Kearsley; (6) St Mary’s “The Hidden Gem”, Manchester.

The Rwanda Group Trust (or 'RGT') is a small Preston-based charity registered charity, founded by Joe Bamber who was an inspirational local schoolteacher and whose family continue to actively support RGT.

RGT helps to alleviate poverty in the areas of health, education, food and shelter, through a network of 4 local groups in Rwanda with whom we maintain regular contact.

In the near future, RGT hopes to be able to fund a new project, which will help to support poor disabled children at a residential school by raising pigs and chickens.
