Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!
In September, with 15 other volunteers, I'm cycling 700 miles in 7 days in the US, in aid of the Matthew and Andrew Akin Foundation, which raises money for a rare disease called HLH (haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis).
I learnt about the "700 Miles to Hope" cycle ride through working with a company that is developing a new treatment for HLH, a rare but life-threatening illness that primarily affects children and has an enormous impact on their families.
When I was younger, my sports were football and rugby, skiing and surfing. Living 500 miles from the sea precludes the latter...and various knee problems (and age) preclude the former! I've now started cycling as it's one of a dwindling number of sports I can still do. However, I'm not a particularly serious cyclist and, frankly, have residual issues about lycra!
The challenge is on: to cycle 700 miles in 7 days, from Jackson, MS to Natchez, MS to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, from 16th to 22nd September.
I do hope you will support me for this important cause. All money donated will go to the Matthew and Andrew Akin Foundation; I am personally covering my own costs for taking part.
Please help me support The Matthew and Andrew Akin Foundation by making a donation through my page. The process is fast, easy and secure. Thanks so much for your support... and please don't forget to send this page to any friends you think might be interested in donating!
