Story
Help me put my skills to best use, using Rugby as a Tool for Change in Africa.
Following years of short Volunteer Expeditions alongside my late Mother, to destinations across China, India and Africa, delivering community building & support programmes, I am now set to embark on my most challenging Volunteer Campaign to date.
I shall be leaving my Family, Friends, Home and Work behind and will travel across Africa for 6 Months from April 2020 to September 2020 as a Volunteer Rugby Coach, working within Schools and Communities on behalf of The Bhubesi Pride Foundation Rugby Charity.
In all my previous charity expeditions I have always considered that, although I give 100% effort to delivering towards the various charity objectives, I am not a qualified Builder or Painter or Decorator and therefore I always felt I could find a way to give more of myself. I now have that opportunity to use my uniquely qualified skills to directly deliver the needed support required by this great Charity and the developing communities with which they work.
In collaboration with African community stakeholders and by involving dedicated volunteer rugby coaches and passionate supporters, the Bhubesi Pride goals are to:
UNITE COMMUNITIES THROUGH RUGBY
Planing, delivering and developing sustainable youth rugby programs, incorporating life skills and promoting PRIDE values through coaching sessions.
EMPOWER LOCAL COACHES AND LEADERS
Provide training, coaching resources and equipment to develop local African coaches, male and female, nurturing community leaders.
INSPIRE CHANGE
Alongside in-country partners – and with the help of an international network of volunteers, donors and commercial partners – the Bhubesi Pride initiate sustainable legacy projects.
As an ambitious rugby charity, the Bhubesi Pride seek to uplift and develop African communities through the sport. The Bhubesi Pride has amassed unrivalled expertise in the rugby-for-good field, an extensive stakeholder base in Africa and a remarkable global support network. The aim to strengthen selected country projects, collaborating with partnering communities to run seasonal programs, backed by appropriate resourcing.
the Bhubesi Pride possess a determined resolve to succeed. Just imagine what you can help achieve by supporting us through our Volunteers.
I shall be dedicating my volunteer trip to the memory of my late mother, Frances Satterthwaite with whom I last worked in Africa. I thank you Mum for being my inspiration xxx
I also thank my Family (Daughter Georgia, Son Cian & their Mother Lisa) for their support and understanding in allowing me to realise this opportunity so far away and for so long.
I am hoping to call on the famously generous support of my Rugby Family as well as friends and kindred spirits to help make this a hugely successful challenge.
