Story

Four Dads. One Epic Ride. One Lifesaving Goal. ❤️

Four dads are taking on the challenge of cycling from Holyhead to Cardiff Bay to raise money for a portable defibrillator to have pitch-side for our Under-12s rugby team.

We all hope we will never need it, but having a defibrillator immediately available could make the difference between life and death. Cardiac arrest in children and young people is thankfully rare, but it can happen without warning, including during or shortly after sporting activity. In Wales, there are around 6 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests per 100,000 children aged 0–18 each year. (Resuscitation Council UK)

When a cardiac arrest happens, every minute matters. For every minute without CPR and defibrillation, the chance of survival can fall by around 10%, while early CPR and defibrillation can more than double the chances of survival. (defibrillators.bhf.org.uk) At a grassroots rugby pitch, where an ambulance may take precious minutes to arrive, having a defibrillator right there means our coaches, parents and players have access to potentially lifesaving equipment when every second counts.

Our aim is simple: to make sure that if the worst ever happens, we are as prepared as we possibly can be. Please support our four dads as they take on this challenge and help us get a defibrillator pitch-side for our young players. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us get closer to our goal. Thank you! ❤️🏉🚴‍♂️
