I've raised £4000 to raise money in loving memory of Mark Skilton for Warwick Cancer Research Centre and the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

In loving memory of our Dad and Husband, Mark Skilton, we’re raising money for the University of Warwick’s Cancer Research Centre and the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
Mark was diagnosed with lung cancer on 29 March 2020 and battled his cancer bravely until his passing on 16 May 2020. Now, we want to do everything possible so that others won’t have to fight that battle in the future.
Mark was a Professor of Practice in Information Systems and Management Group at the University of Warwick and Global Head of Digital Strategy at Enzen. He loved his work dearly: he revelled in being the fun intellectual Professor whether it was writing courses and books, presenting lectures or helping his students better their careers and themselves. His enthusiasm and passion for digital strategy helped him become a visionary in artificial intelligence, cyber security, virtual and augmented reality, the Internet of Things and digital ecosystems transformation.
We are fundraising for two charities that support Mark’s love of AI, Big Data, and research as well as fighting the awful disease of lung cancer which so cruelly took him before his time.
Your donation will support:
- Warwick’s Cancer Research Centre
o Donations will fund: (i) the development of new anti-cancer drugs, (ii) novel approaches to stimulating anti-cancer immune responses using nanotechnology, (iii) using artificial intelligence to improve the diagnosis and classification of cancer, (iv) supporting cancer research activity in developing countries and (v) the analysis of big data sets to improve cancer prognosis.
- Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation
o Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the only UK lung cancer charity dedicated to helping everyone affected by the disease. Your donation will support research, diagnosis, treatment, living with the disease and end of life care. The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation focuses specially on ways of detecting the cancer as early as possible.
Anything you can give will be gratefully received. Every donation will help to save lives and support others coping with this dreadful disease.
Mark believed in creating and seizing opportunities and forged his own path and success. He was a wonderful husband, father and son and will be so sorely missed.
In the spirit of our Dad’s zest for life and his love of science, and in the words of one of Mark’s favourite TV characters, Spock, we hope that you all “Live Long and Prosper”.
A huge heartfelt thanks,
Linda (wife) and Claire, Emma and David (children) xxx
