Weʼve raised £10,489 to help keep the Market Theatre in Hitchin going beyond Christmas 2020 and ensure we are still around in October 2021.

The Market Theatre in Hitchin produces live theatre every week and hosts a wide range of genres from comedies to thrillers and murder mysteries. The theatre also runs weekly drama classes for children aged 5 - 18 and produces theatre for schools in Herts, Beds and Bucks every Christmas. The Company are also known, outside of Hitchin for their touring productions and the growing list of over 30 venues they visit annually with their adult panto are helping to ensure that the Market Theatre Company’s reputation continues around the UK.
Covid 19 has hit the theatre hard and we are now asking for financial support for the first time in our 24-year history. The Adult Panto and children’s Christmas show on tour and in Hitchin are usually our biggest earners and what keeps us going throughout the year. This year we are still running our Adult Panto in Hitchin but not on tour, but we hope to produce a virtual pantomime for the schools we usually visit as we won’t be able to perform to them in person. The uncertainty with how many audiences will attend this year and the reduced capacity means that without extra financial support none of our current plans will provide enough income to see us beyond February 2021.
With your help in reaching the target we can hopefully get through this difficult time and hopefully still be running by October 2021.
Many many thanks in advance for your support.
