His Heart Stopped. Now He’s Riding to Help Save Others.

In 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯, Marsden cyclist 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝘄 (68) collapsed less than a mile from home. A heart attack. Two off‑duty paramedics happened to be passing and stepped in until the ambulance arrived. In hospital, doctors found a severe blockage; during treatment a clot moved and Steve went into cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated, placed on life support, and spent 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹.
He survived. Now he’s riding again — leading a 25‑mile Leeds‑to‑Marsden ride with fellow cyclists to raise funds for community defibrillators. The first will go near his home.

We’re raising £𝟱,𝟬𝟬𝟬 to install and maintain 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗲𝗻. Local businesses are already backing us, and we’re working with Kirklees Council toward contributions — but we need your help to make it happen.
Your donation goes directly toward purchasing defibrillator units, installing them in accessible community locations, replacing pads and batteries, and covering ongoing maintenance and awareness.
