My name is Martha, my husband is Chris. He is my best friend, my soulmate, my everything. I love him with all my heart. But I am going to have to say goodbye to him - he has terminal cancer and is now receiving palliative care only. We are lucky to have so many friends who are helping. You see, I'm disabled. I have severe arthritis due to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and I am reliant more and more on a wheelchair as opposed to walking sticks. Chris has been my carer for the past 10 years. We have a powered wheelchair that stays in our car and we aren't able to move it into the house because of the layout of the entry hall. Were I to have a wheelchair in the house, I could do so much more than I can now. And I will be able to do so much more to help Chris (and me) as he becomes weaker. I have found the perfect chair - but we simply can't afford it. I've not made very much money this year from my small business because Chris has been so sick and we've had so many doctors' and hospital appointments.

I dont' like asking others to help - I was raised to be self-sufficient and as independent as possible. But we do need help with this. The money raised will pay for the chair and will pay for it to be delivered to us and assembled here in the house.
