Story
World Challenge supports community projects across the world in areas of severe deprivation. Costa Rica is a Third World country in Central America. Third World, in simple terms, means that the poor within the country significantly outnumber the middle class and rich. Jem and I will be undertaking a 100 mile cycle ride on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 April, from Liverpool to Leeds, via Preston, to raise funds to support Jem's visit to Costa Rica in summer 2018. Part of the ethos underpinning World Challenge is that participants should take on personal challenges of their own to fund-raise, to draw some sort of parallel with the experiences of the members of the Third World communities they will support during their visit.
This will be Jem's longest cycle ride, by over 60 miles, and represents a significant personal challenge for him. Any money that is raised will be split between Jem's World Challenge trip and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Thank you very much for the taking the time to read about Jem's project. If you feel able to contribute to it, however small your donation, it is very much appreciated.
