Sam Bazen has very kindly agreed to run the Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon for our Fundraising cause Run for Reeva

His aim is to complete it in under 1hour 45 minutes, good luck Sam.

Reeva , who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis (CF) was diagnosed at 1 week old and faces an uphill struggle for the rest of her life. She and her family Tom, Faye and her sister Milla - Rose will face constant hospital appointments on a regular basis for the rest of her life.

CF is a genetic condition affecting more than 10,800 people in the UK. People with CF experience a build up of thick sticky mucus in the lungs, digestive system and other organs, causing a wide range of challenging symptoms affecting the entire body.

Faye and Tom said, " CF is very scary, it presents daily challenges. It has pushed us to be better parents than we ever thought we could be. Our family has been blessed with our very own little fighter and we are truly lucky to have her as our daughter.

Recurrent chest infections are a problem for poorly children who have weakened muscles and who aren’t able to be as mobile as they would like due to their illness. They aren't able to clear the secretions on their chests in the same way a healthy, active child would be able to. Physiotherapists from All over the UK use ‘The Vest’ (a high frequency chest wall oscillator) from Hill-Rom to help the children they look after keep their chests clear. The Vest has proven very effective which means fewer chest infections, fewer hospital admissions and improved quality of life!

There is an airways clearance vest, which creates chest compressions that help loosen, thin and move the mucus from lungs.

this not available on the NHS and costs around £10,000 so we are trying to rIse this amount through different challenges.
