Story
St Peter's Church in Bloxwich has suffered serious water ingress through the roof and needs to raise money for repairs. Having recently celebrated its 150th anniversary much thought, planning and funds are required to secure its future.
In a debate at parliament about the importance of faith groups in the community during COVID, MP Eddie Hughes spoke favorably about St Peter's
I, like many people, have never needed my faith more than over the previous 11 months. As a Catholic, one of the things I missed most during the first lockdown was going to church. We missed the solace of places like St Peter’s, a beautiful church in Bloxwich. We missed the breathing space we get from praying alone.
The church is indeed beautiful and the altar area remains so. This makes the contrast with the damaged areas all the more stark and sad.

The beautiful Altar

Examples of damage
In tough economic times the church has done much to help itself raising more than £4000 so far at the time of writing and repairs have begun -
St Peter's supports the local community by accommodating food bank volunteers who in turn give valuable support to some of the most financially vulnerable
£9000 is the total required an I have initially set a target of £1000 to contribute with your kind help.
To support the fund raising effort I seek your sponsorship for an ambitious unassisted bicycle ride from my home in South Staffordshire to Barmouth and back, some 216 miles. It is a serious challenge and has already taken many hours of preparation. I do this after suffering serious physical and mental ill health in recent years, the latter I am still coming to terms with. I find that having a goal and physical outdoor activity helps me greatly.
Your support of myself, church and community would be greatly appreciated.
