    Story

HE AINT HEAVY HE'S MY BROTHER

On November 29th 2016 my twin brother Martin Day age 47 was given the terrible diagnosis of stage 4 cancer. He was told the devastating news that he does not have weeks or years but months to live.

After weeks of research we have found that people with stage 4 cancers can beat it or at least last many years if treatment is successful. My brother is willing to fight this to the bitter end, he is now having Chemotherapy with the hope of reducing or even stopping the cancer. The word remission was used by the Oncologist, that is the hope Martin needed.

Many of you may or not be aware that Germany have treatments available that the UK do not offer, we have consulted a leading professor in Germany who has looked at Martin's CT scans. His view is that he can offer Martin treatment following the chemotherapy which targets the cancers directly and can control it and will very possibly prolong his life for years to come.

Martin is a Manager of our local football team he is fit and strong, he has given years to help others and is very popular and loved within the community. He is my twin brother and I cannot bare the thought of him leaving me, Martin's son Tristan or his wife Kelly behind.

We are all praying that he can pull through and that we can send him to Germany for further treatment. It is very difficult to ask others to give especially if you do not know Martin, but believe me Martin is a very special person and if anyone deserves a chance it's Martin. Martin has given so much to others all his life.

Nobody deserves to get this terrible disease and until such time that more research and development is done in the hope to find a cure. We find ourselves asking for more time, begging for more time with our loved ones.

My name is Paul Day, Identical brother to Martin Day. He is part of my soul and we are not ready to say goodbye not for a long time - Thank you for viewing.

      Update from the Page owner

We would like to thank everyone again for the donations & support you have given to us. We would also like to thank Martin's twin bother Paul Day who set up the just giving page in order to fund treatment in Germany & located the German clinic. We are devastated to share that after the 6th round of chemo that Martin did not respond to treatment. As Martin did not respond it makes it unlikely that he will be able to go to Germany for treatment. The money instead is being used to fund alternative natural treatments through a private clinic.

In addition to Germany there is a specialist in the UK that uses Nanoknife ablation therapy for inoperable tumours. We are also sending Martin’s recent scans to them this week to find out more about it here and we are hopeful that this gives us other options. Thanks for all of your support and we will keep you updated.

We are overwhelmed with all of your kind messages of support at a time we found very difficult, it really means a lot. We have been contacted personally as well as on Facebook from friends and family who have organised fund raising events and who would very much like us not pause the fund raising. We did consider pausing it however we realise that this was perhaps a rash decision and we are more than happy and very grateful for everyone to continue with the planned events and fund raising.

Okay we have dusted ourselves off following the last scan and realised that it wasn’t as good as we had hoped for but the consultant did say that any increase could have been from the time in between diagnosis and the start of Martins treatment and the decrease would be the result of the treatment working and that there is a 20% reduction overall. Martin is deemed as stable so although we were hoping for more remarkable results, what we have is positive news.
