Story

We are taking part in the Para's 10 (The ultimate 10 mile endurance race!), A multi-terrain endurance event in Colchester on May 18th.

The event is a 10 mile TAB: (TAB stands for Tactical Advance to Battle). We will attempt The Parachute Regiment 10 Mile 'P' Company Cross Country Route, carrying a bergen (rucksack) weighing 35lb (excluding food water) and wearing long trousers with military boots.

Our team is made up of staff from the Colne Valley Group (Electrical and Mechanical) and myslef (TG Lynes & Plumbase Industrial).

We are working with Phoenix heroes to raise awareness and funds for our military veterans suffering with PTSD and Homlessness.

Phoenix Heroes is a veteran non-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), they support our veterans and families from all services, all genders and ranks from all lengths of service. They are a team of veterans, family and friends joining together to try and make a difference to how the support for our veterans and their families dealing with PTSD is delivered. PTSD does not only affect the individual, it also has a huge impact on family and friends too.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder caused by very stressful, frightening or distressing events. Someone with PTSD often relives the traumatic event through nightmares and flashbacks, and may experience feelings of isolation, irritability and guilt.

Phoenix Heroes can offer professional PTSD support via their network of professional bodies. They act as a support platform to allow our veterans and their families gain placement on local community outdoor group activities, training courses and assist with employment opportunities.
