    Story

On the 22nd May, my good friend and fellow Red, Martin Hibbert and his daughter were caught up in the devastating attack at the Manchester arena. They brushed shoulders with the bomber and were less than 10m from him when he detonated. Both sustained life changing injuries, with Martin paralysed from the belly button down. His daughter has a long road to recovery, however the details about her will remain private to respect the wishes of the family.
When you look at the Numbers, it's scary. It happened on the 22nd May, 22 people lost their lives that night, Martin sustained 22 injuries to his body mainly nuts and bolts (as well as the one in his spine, one nut hit him in the neck and ruptured his carotid artery causing massive blood loss.....he had 16 pints transfused into him at the scene - the human body on average contains 7 pints!!!!) and when he was tictched back up after surgery he had 22 stitches in his abdomen!!!! The number 22 also occurs in other things connected with Martin and the incident that night.
I've known Martin for well over 20 yrs and for as long as I've known him he has been a season ticket holder at Old Trafford. He is a Red through and through and for this reason that I'm reaching out to my fellow Reds in the 'Busby Way. While he was seriously ill in hospital, he received well wishes from Sir Alex, Becks, Gary Neville and many more players past and present, however I thought how good would it be for us, as a group of fellow Reds, to show our support for one of our own in this difficult time. I know it would mean the world to him.
I know it's asking a lot of you all, especially as none of you know him, but i would ask you all to spare a few quid and help me raise a bit of money towards helping him going forward. There are many events in aid if him and his daughter and I would love to be involved in them but unfortunately I can't due to my military commitments. I just want to do my part. I know you will all surprise me and i thank you all xx
