Story
My Uncle Martin two weeks ago had a fall at his home which ended with life threatening consequences. He layed there by himself for approx 1-2 hours until Barbara came home to find him unconscious. Having being rushed into hospital he faced a 5 hour emergency operation to remove a blood clot and bleeding from his brain. The operation was a success but we werent offered much hope with the potential outcome. Martin then struggled with various infections, pneumonia and high blood pressure but was able to manage these and survive. His only problem was his brain wasnt showing any signs of activity and after various X-Rays, CT Scans, MRI's & close monitoring both his consultant and the hospitals head nuerosurgeon after two weeks decided Martin was not going to recover to have a good enough quality of life. We were then advised to switch off Martin's life support machine the following day after one more CT Scan.
That's when "Miracle Mart" decided to have his say! He decided to wake at 4am that morning and gave the nurse a smile, he squeezed her hand, moved his left leg on command and followed the nurses finger with his eyes!
We couldnt believe the phone call we had recieved at 8am that morning! His surgeon couldnt believe it, never had he seen a patient wake from such horrific brain injuries. Martin is now slowly making progress whilst still having help from the ventilator, nobody knows what the future holds for him, all we know as a family is that we have my Uncle Martin back!
We would like to thank all his family & friends who have shown support, he will need everyone of you to inspire his recovery In the coming months!
Please Help and Donate whatever you can to help Martin recover from his accident and return back home in the near future xx

7 years agoMartin has made some remarkable improvements over the last week, he's been outside in his chair and today he has spoke a few words for the first time! His nurse has attached a speaking valve to Marts tracky and he has spoken words to us! He answered all our questions! He told me Nan & grandads names, he told me who he supports MUFC! He told me who dad supports, he told me where I play cricket! He told us his birthday on 17th November! Unbelievable, I nearly cried! He told Sophie who his brother is! WOW!!!! 😊
