The Bloxwich cenotaph as stood as a lasting remembrance of our local heroes who gave their lives for our freedom in two World Wars and subsequent conflicts for more than a century now. Standing in all weathers as a beautiful monument and memorial. As a standard bearer each year I noticed that it is need of a so called 'face-lift'. Bloxwich Old & New and Bloxwich Flag facebook pages are committed alongside local councillors to help restore an historical part of our heritage. We have asked a local stonemason company to do the necessary work. It will involve a professional cleaning of the monument, re-pointing of the defective and open joints with a matching mortar and repair or replace the damaged/fallen lead lettering.

The Remembrance Day attendance over the last few years as increased bringing the community together for a brief period to give praise to all of our local heroes who gave their lives for their country. This needs to continue for future generations and keep their memory alive, especially in these difficult times. A restored and fitting memorial is necessary for us all to gather around and pay our respects.
