Story

As you know my Dad is turning 70 and wanted to use this as an opportunity to raise some money for a good cause. He suggested the school in Nepal that I recently volunteered at for four months, and I thought that was a great idea.

The school, Maya Universe Academy in Damauli, is one of four private schools that offers free education in rural and deprived areas of Nepal. In return for educating their children, parents offer two days a month of their time to help run the school. Additionally, funding comes from volunteers and donations, as well as a jewelry business.

Currently, most of the classes are being held in temporary, bamboo classrooms. The goal is to build a permanent, earthquake-proof building containing enough classrooms for the entire school.

This project is going to take some time and money to complete and that's why Dad has kindly asked that if you wish to buy him a present he would like a donation instead.

If anyone is interested in any more information about the school and the work that they do please get in touch or speak to me at the party!
