    Story

Marteen's nephew Carter is 4 years old and was born with Cerebral Palsy (spastic diplegia).Cerebral palsy is a lifelong condition that affects movement and coordination, caused by a problem with the brain.

Carter is an extremely happy, chatty, polite and active four year old who would love to be running around with his friends and playing football... Unfortunately, Carter is restricted and cannot balance without his walking frame...He is unable to stand or walk without his walking frame and is often in a lot of pain due to the spasticity (stiffness) in his muscles, which causes him to be extremely sad and has him often asking 'Why can I not walk, run and jump like my friends'... :(

The Great Ormond Street Hospital has said that Carter is eligible for SDR surgery which with intense Physio Therapy will enable him to stand and walk around unaided and be less reliant on his walker. Without it, he will be looking at a life bound to a wheelchair from roughly the age of 10 as his legs will become tighter and stiffer as he grows.

To do my bit for Carter I am challenging myself to complete the 10-mile Tough Mudder course on Saturday 28th April 2018 and would greatly appreciate it if you could sponsor me to help keep Carter smiling and raise money for his New Legs!

Hi All! Thanks so much for donating to Carter's New Legs...we raised money for his surgery in an astonishingly quick amount of time so all money I have raised is going towards his aftercare - more specifically his physiotherapy as he is currently having sessions every day and will continue to have them for the rest of his life. I have set up a new page as the run has not yet taken place so feel free to keep updated by hitting the link below! https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/redleaftoughmudder Thanks again! Love Marteen xxx
