Story
The total journey is 425 miles.I have decided to undertake a charity cycle to raise money in aid of the Vice Captains chosen charities.
The idea of cycling from Radyr Golf Club to the ‘Home of Golf’ at St Andrews I hope is one that would be interesting to the membership and will result in the membership of Radyr GC donating generously.
I intend to take a Radyr branded golf ball or Club Pin Flag up to our fellow Harry Colt course at St Andrews, and then to bring back a St Andrews golf ball or Pin Flag back to Radyr as a momento.
The plan is to ride from Radyr GC to St Andrews inside of 4 days.
Day 1 would take me from Radyr to Nantwich near Crewe, about 135 miles.
Day 2 would be from Nantwich to Penrith a distance of 125 miles.
Day 3 takes me to Edinburgh via Carlisle and is 115 miles.
Day 4 would be a 50 mile ride to St Andrews to have a photo on the Swilken Bridge and then ride the 50 miles back to Edinburgh to catch the train or possibly overnight National Express coach back to Cardiff.
I will be staying at Travelodges or PremierInns on the 3 overnight stops. I travel light, with just a spare pair of shorts and a t shirt for the evening.
I’m planning to do the trip from Tuesday 21st to Friday 24th of September, but there might be a day or so movement on that depending on the weather forecast.
I hope this is something the membership would support as a fundraiser for both charities and look forward to answering any questions you may have.
