Weʼve raised £175 to fund DNA tests, court fees and associated costs

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Mary and her daughter Camellia need help to prove their identity and their right to be in the UK.

Mary does not have the funds for this and I want to help her and her 3-month-old daughter through crowdfunding. Lets all help Mary get the funds to prove her identity, and to prove that she is Camellias mother, and to get her citizenship confirmed.

Mary`s mother is British, but sadly has been in a psychiatric Institution since Mary came to the UK with her sisters at age 14. Having been put into care, Mary has struggled to maintain her relationships with her family since then, and has been single-handedly fighting a long battle with the Home Office since 2006

I have known Mary as a musician for more than ten years. Mary is an amazing woman a talented singer and a part of the Manchester music community. She has overcome an unbelievable series of mistakes, losses and discrimination by the Home Office and Social services and is still willing to reach out to people and share a smile and a chat.

Mary finally has legal representation willing to represent her for free, but we just need to raise money for DNA tests to prove that Mary is her mothers’ daughter. Despite letters from Health Professionals and her birth certificate, the Home Office refuses to believe that 3-month-old Camellia is Marys daughter, so DNA tests are needed to prove this. Court costs and Barrister fees , to have their identity verified, and Home Office Applications. Any funds raised in excess of Marys` needs will be donated to a Manchester based charity RAPAR, a Human rights-based organisation that works with people who are at risk of having their rights denied

This is urgent as Mary, and her daughter Camellia who was born in this country are under imminent threat of detention.

Thank you so much for the latest donations, the latest news is that the BBC have filmed Mary and will be following her story for a programme due to be screened around Easter. Fingers crossed this will help to highlight this situation that Mary and Camellia and so many others have found themselves in. Tonight Trevor Roots is holding a fundraising event at the Abbey Tap House, ManchesterScience Park I hope to see you there Helen

Dear Supporters, we have changed the amount to £2,500 as we think this will cover the first phase of activities, and it is a much more achievable goal for us in the short term. We are waiting for a detailed breakdown of these costs from the solicitor and will share full details with you as we receive them. In the meantime, Thank you for your donations, and keep highlighting this cause wherever you can.

      Update from the Page owner

Thank you everyone that has donated so far we are really grateful for your love and support. The reason we are aiming for 10k is because we dont know how much court costs might be. My friend Maria and I just want to try and help and we are working together with Mary on this because, I dont know about you, but I dont have enough money to cover these kind of costs.Mary is no longer allowed to work so can't possibly cover it. Together we can do this
