    Story

    WHO?

Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust (MBHT) hosts events for the local community, organisations, businesses and attracts approximately 21,000 visitors a year. The Halls are an important historical asset in the area and are home to the striking stained glass panels by the Victorian artist, Stephen Adam. The glass represents the trades and industries of historic Maryhill. Heritage has been at the heart of MBHT's aims and activities from the beginning. Heritage projects have been carried out by staff and volunteers and in partnership with community groups since 2010. This has included local history research, exhibitions, community heritage events, workshops, performances and guided tours, walks and cycles.

    WHAT?

We are committed to increasing access to arts and culture for local residents and visitors to the area. Maryhill has an important and varied history and we want to show it off! Community is at the heart of everything we do at Maryhill Burgh Halls and we place a high importance on the preservation of social history

Maryhill Museum will collect and tell the stories of the people who made history in the area as well as showcase what it means to people today. The museum will provide a home for the collection of approximately 100 objects and allow us to preserve our rich history for future generations. The collection includes paintings, medals, oral history, sound archives, poetry and photographs.

    WHY?

If a dedicated space is not secured for the collection, it will remain in unsuitable storage and may need to be transferred elsewhere. We want to keep the area's history accessible to local people, encourage visitors to the area and preserve Maryhill’s unique heritage. Without your help this would be impossible.
