Story
We recently lost a beloved husband and father to cancer.Time from the shock diagnosis to losing him was 2 short months. He wanted to get better through natural means, Under continuing care after a previous cancer where he lived with chronic pain after too high doses of radiation, he rejected routes of radio or chemotherapy. He favoured herbal cures he recalled his Kenyan Grandmother administering.Yet, within the confines of NHS hospitals for hydration and monitoring, we additionally struggled with a spectrum from resistance to outright hostility. We believe we cannot be alone in our experience. We wish for something positive to emerge from this painful loss. In setting up a social enterprise to promote knowledge of, and access to, alternative therapies, we seek to advocate for those caught within the conventional medicine system, and break through communication barriers within the NHS.We welcome input from interested members of the public, NHS staff, and alternative therapists. Starting with a Facebook Page and group 'Finding Wellness', we plan to extend to a website and recruit volunteers and staff to pilot this approach in a physical environment, as well as a virtual one. Our activities will be publicly visible through the Facebook page, and we are aligned with the local organisation 'Voluntary Action Camden' for guidance in good practice of the organisation's running.
