    Story

Hello, my name is Aimee and I want to thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

In 2015 I graduated with a BA(Hons) Early Childhood Studies from the University of Hull. I had originally began my University career intent on becoming a Primary School teacher. Whilst studying I began to realise that, while a very worthy career, Primary teaching was not for me. My interest's, instead, were becoming more focussed around language development in Children. After several talks with my University tutor I realised that I would one day eventually like to become involved in Speech and Language therapy. If only I had realised this three years previous to starting my degree! However, I had hope, there are several courses throughout the UK offered at Masters degree level that give the accreditation I needed to start my career, most based in London. I applied to all, had interviews for many, but was successful on none. But I was determined, I started full time work as a support worker with Disabled Adults to gain the experience I needed to apply for a therapist assistant job but; I wanted to keep trying. I was finally accepted for a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics with the University of Birmingham, part time, distance learning, so I could support myself whilst studying. I was over the moon and applied immediately for the new Masters student finance that had become available in the UK. Unfortunately I wasn't awarded the full amount due to the nature of my course and at £1000 per module and £3000 for a dissertation I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. But again, I was determined, I accepted a promotion at work in order to save more and my partner and myself worked out a budget in which it would work. Things were going great, despite working a full time job, my grades were good and I was still gaining experience through work - I finally thought I was getting somewhere.

Unfortunately things did not stay that way - this Christmas I split from my partner and had to move, my family had relocated down South so I had no choice but to rent a house of my own in order to stay near my job. I was very aware that my dissertation was approaching and that I was now in a very difficult position to finance it. I started working extra hours at work, 15 hour shifts day after day, but found my grades were starting to suffer- I was at a loss. Whilst I continue to save whatever I can, moving house and starting fresh has really eaten in to any savings that I had. I am not asking for the entire dissertation to be financed by Crowdfunding - I will continue to work hard and save - but in my current position it is nearly impossible to save the full amount. I am not ready to give up yet having come this far. Donating to my cause will help me fund my dissertation which in turn will allow me to finish my course and move on to the next step of acquiring my dream career. I thank you for reading this and hope you are able to make any kind of donation, I cant express how appreciated it will be.
