Story
Myself my best friend Jess and my sister-in-law Kim are planning to do a 15 mile walk from Fleetwood Ferry Cafe to Knott End and raise money to help buy Matilda her Upsee.
we would also like the extra money to go towards a GoTo seat, which is a portable seat that we can take out and about and it connects to pretty much anything to help her make memories with her big brother Harry.
A little story about a little girl with a big heart ❤️- Matilda was born with a CHD - Ebstein anomaly, and due to other complications she has had her mitral valve replaced with a metal valve. At just 3 days old Matilda had a cardiac arrest for 55 minutes, she came back to us and she has been fighting ever since, she fights through all her trumas she has sustained with a smile on her face.In June 2018 Matilda had her mitral valve replaced, for a mechanical one it has not come without complications, she was being supported by the ECMO machine, the ventilator and many many drugs but she fought through like a true survivor. 2 weeks post -op Matildas valve clotted and the odds she was given to survive was little to none but she did it,she proved everyone wrong. Matilda started to recover and thrive and then she sustained another truma on the 31st October 2018, she had other cardiac arrest and we were dealt with the blow that she has hypoxia damage on the brain, she managed to prove them wrong again and carried on with so much strength and courage and got better. Matilda was aloud out of Alder Hey for christmas 2018 but when we went back we dealt with the blow that she has a large bleed on the brain and needs to have neuro surgery to evacuate the bleed, so on the 29th December she was wheeled down to theatre once again….
Matilda carried on fighting and we began her journey home only to be dealt with another blow in March 2019, Matildas valve had clotted again and she needed open heart surgery again, she was rushed down to theatre with little to no chance of survival once again but she smashed the odds and came out the other side, proving that she deserves her spot in this world.Since March 2019 we have battled with Matildas anti-coagulation and medication, but she is here she is changing every day, and she is thriving to the best little girl she can be .In December 2019 we finally managed to get home, after a long 20 months in hospital. We are desperatly trying to help Matilda develop and thrive to the best of her ability. Matilda has an older brother who she idolises, she sits and smiles away while he plays in the park and we have a dream that one day she will join him.
Matilda continues to fight for life with every heartbeat and we continue to stand right beside her through every fall and every bump in the road.
