Story

I am walking a 26 mile marathon route along the beautiful Kent coast on April 13th 2019 to raise money for the South East Dog Rescue (SEDR), which is based in Kent but helps unwanted dogs throughout the UK. The walk will take around 9 hours but because of the lovely hostelries in this part of the world, could take a bit longer! This is a challenge I set myself a couple of years back to do before I turn 60 and have left it to the very last minute, with days to spare! I am walking with my friend of 49 years Steve Roberts who is fundraising for Dementia UK (his page is here if you would like to donate to that wonderful cause too) I've uploaded a image of the route at the bottom and it basically goes from Sandwich to Herne Bay, passing through Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Margate.

SEDR is a not for profit organisation whose aim is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home dogs across the UK, operating a non destruction (no kill) policy. SEDR's Rescue Centre is run entirely by volunteers and survives on voluntary contribution. You can visit their website here to read more about the great work they do and to enquire about the dogs they have. SEDR also has a Facebook page where you can keep up to date with their latest work. Click here to view it.

I have visited the centre a few times and have seen the great work they do and how much love goes into looking after the dogs, some of whom have been rescued from death row at the 11th hour or have been subjected to horrible tortured lives. It's humbling to see people give this much love and be rewarded with such love back. I have done some fundraising before for SEDR, auctioning off some music memorabilia and they are an organisation that I think very highly of.
