I've raised £300 to support the children of Shane Gilmer.

Shane Gilmer was a wonderful young man. He was a genuine person who possessed an infectious laugh and an ability to put others at ease. I only had the pleasure of working with Shane for just over a year but in that time I grew to think of him as a good friend. Through his housing work at East Riding Council, he helped many families gain access to a stable home and provided support for them when they needed it. Over my career I have known very few people that was as liked and respected as he was. Above all Shane was a family man. He talked regularly about his children, how proud he was to be a dad and how excited he was for the future birth of his third child.
Tragically, on 12 January 2018 Shane and his pregnant girlfriend Laura were attacked in their own home by an intruder. Shane was fatally shot and Laura barely escaped with her life.
I am running the Great North Run in September in memory of Shane. I will also be raising money to put into a fund for his children's future. His two older girls who knew him as dad and little Ella Faith Gilmer who has been born since his passing.
Thank you.
