Football For Forces 2018, Blackpool FC, Saturday 12th May 2018.
Matt and Sarah will be hosting a fooball event raising money for our chosen charities for the 3rd year in a row. Followed by an online auction Our event over the year as been supported from football clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City. sporting icons Alan Shearer, Jamie Carragher Anthony joshua and Celeb John Bishop . We continue to make it grow each year!
The two chosen charities are Veterans Garage, Manchester & Cystic Fibrosis Trust (please see below for information regarding the charities.)
The aim of the event is to use football as a opportunity to come together and have fun and raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities
This years event will consist of the Army Medical Services Mens and Ladies team Vs Swinton FC (Manchester) Mens and Ladies teams & a Walking football made up of ex serving and injured military personnel.
Veterans’ Garage is a unique approach to providing support to Military Veterans across the North West to have a stable social hub, to learn new skills, and receive the support and advice that is available to them. The aim is to build a hub for ex-servicemen and the local community to come together, creating a facility that can serve as a venue for unique events that can raise funds and awareness for local causes.
Veterans Garage is based within the original ‘terminal’ building here at City Airport, situated immediately at the main Airport entrance. The community project is to restore this Grade 2 listed WWII airport terminal building into a base for a classic car & motorcycle restoration garage. Supporting North West Veterans suffering from recent combat stress, the garage will also work to alleviate some of the loneliness and isolation of the older generation.
At the same time this project will restore this listed building to house a vibrant and buzzing community club house for car, motorcycle, scooter, and aviation enthusiasts. All ages and genders will be made to feel welcome at this central hub, which will boast stylish lounges, club meeting and business facilities, and dining space with incredible food and beverages.
As a not-for-profit venture, the garage will also play host to a community car club, giving freedom to raise funds for other causes across the Northwest, simultaneously providing ex-servicemen with employment opportunities.
Our chosen second Charity:
Matt and Sarah became alot more aware of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust when friends who served with Matt within the Army Medical Services Kevin & Harriet Montague welcomed baby Jasmine into the world in 2017. Jasmine was unfortunatly diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. We can only begin to imagine the stress and hard work that must go into the care of baby Jasmine. So we want to help by trying to raise as much money as possible to help towards research and raising awareness that will hopefully help Jasmine and her parents in the future.
Please support our charities and lets raise as much money as possible!. Alot of hard work goes into the event that is organised with budget of zero and all proceedings go to the charities 🔵⚪️❤️🇬🇧
