Story

Dear All,

At this challenging time, I wanted to do something that would not only hopefully raise a smile but more importantly some much needed funds for Charity.

I think we can all agree that it's pretty awful and the degrees of separation are closing in daily. We will all probably know someone who has had Covid-19 or currently fighting it. My brother contracted it and was completely incapacitated for days, but has now thankfully recovered.

I have of course joined the nation and clapped on recent Thursday’s, to show my admiration for all those on the front line against this dreadful disease. I’ve bought some food via a new charity for the NHS workers, I’ve even bet on a virtual Grand National...but I wanted to do something that garnered a little more financial support.

So after thinking about challenges I’ve done in the past, like a couple of long distance runs for charities, with the lockdown, unfortunately that is not going to be possible and the money is needed by these causes now!!!

Taking into consideration the lack of options, and not wanting to do something stupid that renders me needing hospital attention at this time, I have chosen to do something that for those who know me well, know will hurt...Something I have never done...even when asked to do so in a previous life (as an actor)…and that is...to shave my head !!!

Taking a set of clippers, down to the lowest point, and shaving my lovely (still no grey) hair...

I know, and am acutely aware that it’s no mean feat at all. I’m not naive nor stupid enough to think that this is in anyway difficult, dangerous or comes within a million miles of what every nurse, doctor, carer and a hundred other professions are facing in this crisis on a daily basis.

It will however, let me have the opportunity to try and raise as much money as possible towards 3 amazing charities that are specifically helping children , the elderly and those facing financial hardship at this time. (You will find information on the individual charities at the bottom of the page).

So, even if you think it’s stupid, daft or even those of you who shave your heads regularly, I urge you to humour me and give generously, as I shave my barnet and raise money for those in need.

So you know, my aim is to shave the lot off during the Easter weekend. Therefore, it’s not a long campaign and as such, if you’d like to support the charities please do click on the link below as soon as you’re able.

By way of evidence of my hair obsession, below are earlier examples of my soon to be discarded barnet!

Thank you for taking the time to read. Please do give generously.

Matthew
