Story
In September 2026, I’ll be travelling to the USA as part of a team of 343 firefighters, taking on a powerful and humbling challenge: climbing 110 floors in full firefighting kit. Each one of us represents one of the 343 brave firefighters from the Fire Department of the City of New York who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11.
This isn’t just about the physical effort, although it will be a tough challenge. It’s about remembrance, respect, and solidarity with the global fire service family, as we mark 25 years since that day changed our profession, and the World, forever.
I’ve spent my career serving my community, training firefighters, and promoting safety, well-being, and resilience in one of the most demanding jobs there is. As a professional firefighter, this climb means a huge amount to me. It’s about honouring those who ran towards danger, supporting those who continue to do so today, and setting an example of service, commitment, and gratitude.
To take part in this memorial climb, there are practical costs involved in travelling to and taking part in the event in the USA. Some of the funds raised will help cover these essential expenses, allowing me to represent the UK fire service and be part of this important act of remembrance.
The rest of the money raised will go towards supporting emergency service charities in the UK and the USA, helping provide vital care, wellbeing support, and assistance to those who serve and their families. These charities provide vital support for firefighters and their families – from mental health care and rehabilitation to financial and practical assistance when it’s needed most.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps keep the memory of the 343 alive and directly supports those who serve on the front line today. If you’re able to give, please know that your support genuinely matters and will make a lasting difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, for remembering, and for supporting me on this journey.
