    Story

This is an ecological trip where you will find out about practical ecological measures in a real environment. This will be mainly focussed upon tree planting and understanding why this is so important in St Vincent. There will be some classroom based elements where you will be taught about climate change and how it effects St Vincent. It will also involve practical tree planting on your part and lots of physical activity like mountain hiking . In addition the programme last year included a volcano hike up St Vincent’s main volcano, a beach clear up of litter and then some scuba diving and marine and reef preservation. It also included a trip to the rainforest, and a boat trip to Mustique . Finally the group were lucky enough to spend some time at Union Island marine park (white sandy beaches), at a turtle and marine wildlife reserve.
You will be working with local pupils of roughly the same age and you will be doing a lot of the activities together. So the ability to work in a team is important, and get on with others in unfamiliar surroundings.

Some comments from last year’s trip:

    One parent’s view:
. To sum it up very briefly the boy who left our house on 23rd March 2016, made a 4500 mile journey each way, and came back a man. A young man, who we as parents are incredibly proud of. This trip has given him so much and we are so glad that he has had this opportunity. As parents we would just like to thank you.

Comments from a student who was lucky enough to take part in 2015

“This adventure has been very memorable for me because I have been able to make friends with some amazing people both across the Trust and internationally, push myself beyond my comfort zone, expanded my knowledge across the curriculum, meet and be involved with a different culture and seen the most spectacular views. So much happened in such as short space of time and I know that the experiences will stick in my mind for the rest of my life.”
