Crowdfunding is the new way to raise money for a personal cause on JustGiving.
Chedgrave Parish Council are raising funds to erect a Lychgate at the entrance to All Saints Church in Chedgrave as a memorial to those who fell in the service of their country from the parish of Chedgrave.
Currently there are two plaques located within the church to commemorate our fallen from both world wars. We want to erect an outside memorial where the community can remember and will act as a focal point for commemoration at the entrance to the church yard.
We have just been given planning approval to begin and we are just clarifying the final detailing with the relevant parties before funding can be used to drive the project to the manufacturing stage. It is our intension to drive the project forward to enable the lychgate to be officially unveiled well before the end the World War One centenary in 2018.
The money raised will be to erect the structure and help with the cost of materials including oak and flint. We have already been promised some free roof tiles and bricks from a local supplier who is keen to help with the project.
