Story

My wife and I recently lost our daughter at 23 weeks, a totally unexpected event after a very happy and healthy pregnancy up to that point. We were going about all the necessary preparations for bringing a new person into the world and getting very excited about it (little one being our first child). Then out of the blue my wife's waters broke at 21 weeks. After spending two weeks in hospital, first at the James Paget and later transferred to Nottingham City Hospital, my wife went into labour and delivered our little one on 15th January. Unfortunately little one did not survive the birth and we are going through the difficult process of grieving for our first child.

After receiving excellent care in hospital and continued support from various charities whilst we come to terms with what has happened, we wanted to raise money to support these often small local organisations working with parents in similar situations to us. The money you donate will be used to supply hospitals and charities with resources to support parents coping with the loss of a child, including items such as books on coping with child loss and memory packs.

To raise money for this cause I have set myself the challenge of completing an approximately 215 mile walk circumnavigating Norfolk in 7 days. The walk will be taking place from 27th May to 2nd June, and will take me along 3 well-known walking routes in Norfolk, the Angles Way, Peddars Way and Norfolk Coastal Path.

Family, friends or anyone else is welcome to join me for any stage of the walk.

I hope through completing this challenge we can raise money to help support more parents who are going through this process, as well as support hospitals and charities in the amazing work they do during these difficult times.
