Story
On July 24th I will be attempting a unsupported run of the circumference of Wales using the Wales coastal path and the offas Dyke path (a total of 1040 miles in total) carrying my belongings with me on my back. I am raising money for 'The Ben Raemers Foundation’ Partly because I feel I may have had similar experiences that Ben must of had. Fortunately I have been able to get by with mine with the help of my running, challenges and friends and family but sadly Ben wasn’t able to do the same. Ben was the last person I guessed would have had problems like that. I was lucky enough to film Ben skateboarding a little when he was younger before he went off to be a international professional skateboarder. It was the ‘Death big push’ tour I was filming for and Ben was the guest skater for that trip that I first met him. I remember going up to him introducing myself saying ‘hi I’m Dykie’ and he just burst out laughing, I thought that’s strange, maybe he thought I said something else.. he later went on to be one of my favourite people on the trip, a pleasure to film with, no stressing and thanking me every time I filmed something of him, he was also so funny to hang out with.. I didn’t really see him a lot after through the years but when I did it was like we were back hanging out on that trip, seemed really pleased to see me even though he was a big pro skater which did not phase him one bit in that way anyway but unfortunately in 2019 the world of skateboarding lost one of the UKs most loved people on and off the board. The Ben Raemers foundation does everything they can to help and try to prevent suicide especially in the skateboarding community.
