    Story

After being rejected from my dream unis, I had no choice but to take a gap year and reapply in 2019. But I had no clue what to do!

Then I saw this ad for helping at a community in Africa, working in the politics and humanitarian efforts on the ground - and I'm set on it!

My gap year had looked to be heading out to Oz to find paid-work with this gap year provider, but now I'm set on trying to make a difference to OTHERS lives, not just keeping mine afloat.

    So that's what I'm asking for...support!

Family are supporting me so far, but when I'm out there, I'm going to need funds: being 18, dropped out of school, waiting a year to apply to uni again, there's only so far a job out there can fund me.

So that's what I'm asking out of the kindness of your heart, to fund an 18 year old who wants to go help others.

The project works on two basis: first actually in the political workspace, helping research and actually affect local politics (exactly my area applying for 'Politics and International Relations' and having worked as Member of Harrow Youth Parliament since 2015. So a real chance to make a legislative difference there!

Second is actually hands-on: with the people, the communities, teaching, councilling, supporting, building, and all round helping to in some ways better their lives. Humanitarian work I want to be able to put my name to!

The funds you donate will support travel, insurance, health provisions, accommodstion, food & water, clothing, contact with family back here in the UK, and as many bags of supplies I can pay for the community I will work with, out of "our pocket".

I know this is probably the same story as 100s of others, and I could play the pity cards of "my grandad's terminal cancer" and "my mentally unwell mother" (both true if you want to know) but I'm not: the truth over sugar coating!

I'm just a teenage boy, who wants to go do some good, and needs some support!

Thank you for taking time to read this.

      Update from the Page owner

Here we go... So...have just set this up. I really don't expect to make 1% of my target but I'll find a way to raise funds. Anyone who does donate - thank you! You really don't know how much it means to have the opportunity to go and help yourself in person. So thank you! Anything you can donate means a lot and hey, "every little helps!"
