MrH’s 2018 Challenge

As many of you will know from your generous support, last year I challenged myself to do my first ever ½ Marathon and that soon developed into 2 ½s in 2 weeks – it was all in aid of The BrainsTrust. Well for someone who’s over 105kg and has not done much in the way of exercise all his younger life, it was certainly a challenge. But I managed the Forest of Dean Autumn run in 2:22:32 and the Cardiff ½ in 2:19:23. And raised £1,750 inc Gift Aid for the charity.

This years challenge is all about me, well sort off. My challenge is to complete the 2018 Forest of Dean Autumn Trail Run in 2hrs (30/9/2018), or less, and to get my weight down to 95Kg. As in 2017 I will be running the Cardiff ½ on the following Sunday (7/10/2018), this time to provide moral support my friend Derek on his first ½ marathon, although if he’s up for it I again aim for a sub 2hr finish.

Instead of running for a charity this year I will be doing crowd funding for a small business which means a lot to Kath and me as they saved our 10 year old German Shepherd Dog, BoJay, last year when he went from an extremely active and bouncy dog to a cripple over night following a serious spinal injury. The business is Bilbos Hydrotherapy & Pet Spa Ltd in Lydney who offer a hydrotherapy pool and treadmill. They are a devoted and hard working group of people. I know from personal experience that the first few years of running ones own business isn’t easy, so in response to their devotion to returning our BoJay back to his normal self without the need for surgery I thought I’d help by trying to raise some funds to help with the cost of their chemicals and other supplies this, their second year. Please take a look at their website and offer some support: Bilbos Hydrotherapy & Pet Spa

Thank you
