Story
This Christmas; Josh and I have been asked to join a team heading to Uganda. As a church we aim to give enough food for a week and a warm, woollen blanket to 1000 children in Uganda.
Josh and I will be helping to organise, purchase and distribute these packs to the children of the village personally.
We are doing this instead of Christmas shoe boxes in an effort to do something that benefits the children more long term. As well as bringing warmth; blankets aid a better nights sleep for the children increasing their likely hood to attend school and improving ability to learn.
We will also be identifying need and providing help where we can. Last year, the team were able to provide water purification for a school and 600 pairs of boots to assist children getting there. For most this was the first pair of shoes they ever owned, providing dry dry feet and protection from parasites that live in the mud
I would count it a privilage to be able to join the team, of self funded volunteers and believe it will be a real life experience for Josh (There will also be another 10 year old on the trip).
I have turned down the chance to go on for the last two years because of financial and work constraints. This year, the trip takes place between Christmas and New Year, so whilst we are still not personally able to fund the trip, I am in a position to be able to go.
As a family, we have agreed to make sacrifices and contribute a proportion of Christmas presents towards the cause but I am hoping my generous family and friends may also help contribute to the amount needed for the Airfare. If we are blessed enough to receive more than we have asked for we will put the rest towards the good cause (blankets & food for Children Uganda).
Please consider whether you can help.
With Love,
Max & Josh. Xx
