Meet Spartan or 'Spart' to his friends
I found Spart blind, starving and in immediate danger in front of a temple in Rishikesh, India. Now I need your help to bring this remarkable kitten from India to a place of safety & love in the UK.
Just a little skeleton of misery, here is his story. Four months ago, while volunteering India, I watched in horror as two big dogs fighting furiously got ever closer to this weak kitten crouched in the dirt trying to eat garbage. I picked him up, kept him with me & nursed him with tiny drinks & lots of cuddles. He fought everyday to be alive yet loves everything he comes into contact with. Look closely at the first photo, you can see his whiskers are just broken stubs, his fur is thin & rough & his cloudy blind eyes. It took a week of feeding before Spart could wash, he was so weak that every time he lifted a paw he fell over sideways!”
I tried to get him adopted but no one wants the responsibility of a blind kitten. After 3 months of caring for him, I have fallen in love, I will not abandon him! I have decided to bring him back to the UK.
None of the charities I contacted - and I contacted them all - would help - most didn’t bother to reply. No shelter, No food, No medical attention, No medicine and No funds- were offered by any charity despite my repeated pleas over months! Every cost, every care fell to me. I was on a really tight budget & wholly unprepared. It cost more to feed Spart than myself when taking into account the travel costs searching for food in a religious meat free city. A dear friend sent several food packages from England.
Spart’s only chance to live a normal life, which he has demonstrated he can in so many ways, is in a country where cat companions are valued and understood. I tried advertising on American adoption sites but no serious interest came forward. The £1750 to bring Spart home will get transport to Delhi, where Spart will receive additional vet care, temporary foster care, a pet passport, the required airline pet carrier, a registered flight, the initial vet certification on landing in the UK & help find this brave kitten boy a home.
Please help me get Spartan back to the UK, its his only chance to have a proper loving forever home, Ive exhausted myself and all other options! All the organisation to achieve this is done but now I need your help animal loving community: £1, £3, £5, £7, £10, £15, £20, £50 or any higher donation will help & be so appreciated!
If we are lucky enough to raise more money than Spart requires I will use it to continue neutering a cat colony at Ramana's Children's Home.
