Story
Child poverty is everyone's business. Metro World Child is a global, faith-based humanitarian organisation based in Brooklyn and dedicated to serving inner-city children throughout New York, Peru, Kenya, South Africa, Romania, India and the Philippines. I will be participating in the 2018 Klimbing For Kids to raise money for the kids.
The Work of Metro
KENYA
Many children cannot afford school meals, go hungry and sometimes even faint in class. They go to school in torn uniforms. Feeding programs are part of child sponsorship, providing school lunches for the children.
Many of the schools lack of clean water to sustain the children and basic hygiene becomes a problem. Metro installed their first water tank in a school in Kenya and work with local schools to meet the needs of children. Their teams do outreach programs to spread the love of God.
THE PHILIPPINES
Many children live in abject poverty, searching for food in garbage. Some children have to stop going to school to help their parents earn a living by scavenging in piles of garbage. Due to poor conditions, including lack of clean water, thousands of children suffer or die every day because they don't have access to medicine to save their lives.
The Target
Help me to get to the Mt Kilimanjaro in October 2018. I pledged to raise £5000 by end of August to:
- expand feeding programs and build wells in Kenya;
- reach out to isolated gypsy children living in encampments in Romania, meeting their physical needs, providing them with warm sock and boots in winter;
- provide medicine, food (one meal per day), clothing such as shoes, socks, uniforms, transportation and school bags to enable children to attend school.
Any funds above that will be used for my expenses to get to Tanzania! Please help me to get there!
THANK YOU!
