Almost every runner in Belfast, Co Antrim , Co Down and probably co Armagh will recognise this big beaming friendly grin...Along with his wonderful unstoppable partner Mags Mathieson , our wee Mighty Max McRoberts is at the start or finish of almost every event this side of the Bann.

But Max's mobility is starting to fail due to his MS

His adoring friends here at Stormont Park Run are banding together with several of the Monkstown Spartans to help raise a few scheckles to purchase a light weight mobility scooter so we dont loose him. He's utterly irreplaceable here at Stormont where he looks after all of us every Saturday morning, rain, hail shine or gale force winds. If you've ran Stormont....you`ll have enjoyed his welcoming smile dishing you out free drinks and biscuits and dog treats ..mostly funded out of our wee heroes own pocket

so is'nt it time we started looking after him for a change??

2 ancient old Spartans are going to drag their creaking bones around the Dublin Marathon next Sunday to try to keep the wee man mobile as we cant do without him...they're both in their fifty somethings..the younger more handsome one is a vet of the boxing ring and several previous marathons but claims this is his last before he retires to a new hobby of eating Mars bars...the other idiot is a heart attack survivor who hadn't ran the length of himself until 18 months ago and needs his head examined...thank goodness no one will recognise them with those tin buckets on their heads

so if you can spare any small change at all then please help... .remember too that just giving charges 2.9% web platform fee and each donation has a 25 pence levy on it...so if you can possibly spare it please feel free to add that 0.25 on to the end of your donation

if by some miracle of the Gods those decrepit old relics manage to raise more than the cost of that mobility scooter...by your most brilliant generosity...then every penny above and beyond will be given to The MS Society

Good Folks...its about 5 hours since this old computer dinosaur finally managed to patch together this page and i am utterly astounded and deeply moved by your incredible generosity .. the total is already well in excess of £400.

i will probably never be capable of thanking all of you individually and personally ..theres only 11 very short and very busy days until Dublin,,so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TAKE THIS AS ONE MASSIVE THANKYOU TO YOU ALL.

Im sure that very few of you know either me or Michael personally and i hope your faith in us is justified ..we`ll certainly give it our utmost,,, the amazing thing is that we strangers are all drawn together around the whirlwind that is Mags and Max and it just knocks me down realising how much we all think of the pair of them.......so when you just get a wee thumbs up emoji from me then take it as read that its a massive great hug from this old Spartan...........Jimmy
