Story
maxthebravefund.org was set up in September 2019 after our son Max tragically passed away from a Malignant Rhabdoid Tumour.
Max was taken into his local hospital with suspected Pneumonia at 5 months old, two weeks later he was having intense chemotherapy at Great Ormond Street Hospital. We lived at the hospital with him for the next 6 months praying that his treatment would be a success. Research taught us that the prognosis was not good, Max's chances of survival were minimal so we both gave up work to spend every moment with our precious boy.
The Max the Brave Fund is excited to announce that we will be helping to fund a research project at G.O.S.H called "Creating Superpowered Immune Cells to Treat Childhood Tumours" - Superhero Cells to save our Superhero Kids.
This project is extremely important to us and vital for the improvement of treatment for childhood tumours.
When Max was in hospital harvesting his cells to be put back once his treatment was finished we signed an agreement that if worse case scenario Max didn't finish his treatment and couldn't use his cells, we were happy for these to be used for research.
Max could potentially contribute to finding a cure and kinder cancer treatments.
All of our fundraising will be done with this in mind, we would love to offer regular grants to this special cause with the help from you guys.
The Max The Brave Fund aims to support families during extensive and recurring stays in hospital, to send birthday and milestone packages and to help families to create special memories together.
We also have special named funds raising money for Shooting Star Children's Hospice, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust - funding research into Rhabdoid Tumours in children.

2 years agoThese are some of the special packages we have prepared to take to Great Ormond Street Hospital next week as part of Max's birthday wish. They have been wrapped in cellophane to eliminate any germs as children on these wards often have low immune systems. We will be taking these along next Friday (3rd September) along with a cheque for the research project we are funding.
