Weʼve raised £50 to fund a full year of education for a Maya child

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

I am running the New Forest Half-Marathon-10th September 2017 to raise money for Melody School.

Melody School has been set up by Igor Xoyon to provide equality schooling to underprivileged Maya children in Chimaltenango, Guatemala. It is run purely by donations.

Through sponsorship a child is not only able to receive a solid education, but also daily nutritious meals and access to speciality health care that the families would not have otherwise.

As I discovered when visiting it, Melody School is a wonderful place for learning and playing!

Donations, however small, are much appreciated.

I am a Maya archaeologist who is both interested in the ancient Maya culture and the Maya people living today. As the Maya is now a topic in the primary history curriculum, I visit schools teaching both the children and teachers about the culture.
