I'm Maya, I'm in my first year of Sixth Form, and in July 2017 I'll be fulfilling a dream I've had for years. Along with friends and staff from my school, I'll be travelling to Iquitos, Peru.
We will be working with the local community to build well-needed facilities such as classrooms, food kitchens, bakeries and facilities for disabled people.
As well as this, we will be spending time in a girl's orphanage, where we will teach English, Maths, and simply give them some company and friendship, by doing activities such as face painting and jewellery making.
By working and helping in Iquitos, I can raise awareness of the heart-breaking poverty that exists there, which hopefully is a step further towards a poverty free world.
My £2,000 goal includes getting me to Iquitos, and also contributes towards the well-needed resources for the building project and to work in the orphanage.
I know it seems like a daunting amount, but even if you donate £1 it will make all the difference to the people who need it most.
If I raise any more than £2000, the extra donations will go towards an international charity - meaning every single penny you donate will go towards charity and good causes.
