Story

My daughter was recently diagnoised with Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). This is a type of blood cancer that starts from young white blood cells called lymphocytes in the bone marrow. This is often diagnosed in young children. As a result of their disease these children will become really prone to catching infections. Except for them it is life threatening. So often they will have to be in hospital on a room on their own.

They can catch these infections from all sorts of places-people, the environment around them. Even toys.

After spending time at Croydon University Hospital (fka Mayday), talking to the nurses, it has become apparent, heartbreakingly, how few toys they have to offer for the children who are in isolation rooms, they have to be kept separate from the other toys.

This leaves these children in hospital, in a room on their own, with nothing to play with. Some parents aren’t fortunate enough to have someone to relieve them so they can go pick up what there child wants from home.

I know many of you have been touched by Izzy’s illness, and have been so generous, we’ve been so grateful.

I would like to raise money to buy some toys that can be kept seperate for the oncology patients. Every little helps, the joy and distraction it will bring will be priceless.
