In the Spring of 2020, the children of Mayfield Primary School in Cambridge were eagerly rehearsing for their performance of All the King's Men by Richard Rodney Bennett. Shortly before the performance, lockdown intervened.

Instead of giving up on the idea, 64 children aged 4-11 collaborated to record their parts at home, under the direction of their teacher Anne Taylor. This was edited by Ed Davison into an online opera directed by Sul Hui Lee and beautifully illustrated by Tonka Uzu.

The opera will be premiered online on Wednesday 11th November 2020 at 7pm - a link will be on the school website (https://mayfieldcambridge.org/), but the costs of putting it on have not yet been fully met - especially the rights fees paid to the composer's Estate for putting the opera up online.

To enable music to continue to flourish at Mayfield Primary School, we would greatly appreciate any donation you are able to make. Any surplus will go towards funding music tuition for children. We hope you enjoy watching the opera.
