Story
I'm raising £80,000 to help with the costs of my cancer treatment abroad.
In July 2024 I recieved a diagnosis of a rare form of sarcoma cancer (gist). I began treatment two weeks later which worked well to begin with shrinking my tumour by nearly half the size. Unfortunately at my first three month scan it showed I had a blood cot and had to go on blood thinners. This then caused the tumour to bleed and had to undergo emergency surgery. This was in December 2024, unfortunately things didn’t go as planned and had a very difficult recovery. I had my next scan and again unfortunately the cancer had already grown back and had spread into my liver. After being in and out of hospital over the next year the cancer continued to spread and grow, throughout this time all the targeted therapy unfortunately failed and I am now at a point where the NHS have no more available treatments. We have researched other options for my cancer treatment and the one that seems to best suit what I am needed is going to cost me up to £80,000. This treatment isn’t available in the UK so this cost also includes my travel. I am now at a point where this treatment is incredibly urgent and we have been fortunate to find an opening in the month which is why I need your help.
Maybe at this point I should tell you a little bit about who I am… my name is Mayo and I am a Dad of two beautiful children. I am a self employed electrician and I have been unable to work now for a while due to many complications with my cancer. I am only 35 years old and my dream is to live long enough to see my children start their first job, get married or even start a family.
