Story
Light up a life!
I have volunteered to assist the WindAid charity in April 2020 in Trujillo, Peru, in designing, manufacturing and installing a wind turbine to a Peruvian community who would not otherwise have access to reliable electricity.
The Wind Aid Institute, a US registered charity, is working for the past decade to bring de-centralised wind energy to remote communities in Peru and relies primarily on income from fees paid by foreign volunteers, plus ad hoc donations and grants.
I will be funding the trip myself & all donations raised will cover additional expenses and will go to the charity.
About WindAid:
WindAid is an educational institute whose projects provides electricity to developing communities utilising wind energy to provide a clean and reliable source of electricity in locations where traditional electricity is not available. Students and professionals come from all over the world to work together designing, building, and installing wind generators. Each project contributes to the evolution of the design, or reinforces the solidity of the design concepts encouraging an environment of education and innovation.
Building wind turbines with WindAid Institute benefits everyone involved. Volunteers enjoy an unforgettable experience and recipient communities in Peru are provided with access to electricity to power their lights, computers or other electrical items to help improve the standard of living, improve teaching conditions and support the start-up and growth of small businesses.
