Story

I am recently involved as a volunteer in this amazing project. Flores the Kiskeya, it's a non-profit organisation which provides solutions to a community where women are victims of physical abuse and rape, by providing medical and nutritional supervision, plus education to encourage self-employment.

Flores de Kiskeya operates in Anse-à-Pitres (south-east of Haití), a coastal village next to the border with the Dominican Republic. The per capita income is the poorest in the whole American continent, with 80% of the population living under the poverty threshold. Haiti also has the highest maternal death rate in America: 59 of 1,000 babies die during labour, 85% of the pregnancies are high risk and 1 of 44 women die during pregnancy or while giving birth.

The organisation has created a centre where young women get the medical and psychological support they need. It’s also used as a nursery to educate the wee ones and also as a educational and emotional support centre to educate and help the mums to create employment opportunities.

This is a very small organization and it works mainly thanks to volunteers, my aim is to raise money to be able to provide FOOD, during the summer period for the mums and for their children.

We try our best to make a small but significant difference... would you like to HELP US?

HUGE THANK YOU!
