Story

West London Welcome, a Drop-in Centre For Refugees and Migrants will open its doors in Hammersmith in January. The weekly Drop-In Centre will be the only one of its kind in west London and is hugely needed to tackle isolation and destitution amongst the local and wider refugee community. We are Crowdfunding to pay some wonderful refugee chefs the Living Wage to cook a hot lunch.

Asylum seekers live on £35 a week, cannot work and often live in crowded and chaotic housing. They've escaped trauma and violence to get to the UK and find themselves isolated and sometimes destitute whilst they wait endlessly to hear whether they will be given refuge and allowed to stay. Our Centre will offer a safe, social space to hang out, provide english and therapeutic classes, but most importantly a comforting, nutritious hot meal prepared by the women's collective of refugee chefs from Welcome Cinema & Kitchen (pictured above).

With your money we can provide our refugee chefs much needed employment and serve a delicious hot lunch to people who need it most. Please consider giving us a gift over the Christmas and holiday season. Thanks so much.
